Tateshina Tokyu Ski Area is a small hill but packed with lots of activities for the entire family. Probably not for the expert, off-piste seeking snowboarder or skier.
This resort is generally open from the middle or latter half of Dec to the latter half of March. In the 23/24 ski season, it was open from Dec 23 to Mar 24. It is open from 0900hrs to 1600hrs Friday to Sunday with Monday to Thursday closed, however, it is open every day over the New Year’s holidays; it was open from Dec 22 to Jan 8. Best to check directly with the ski mountain if you plan to visit over the New Year’s holidays.
If you purchase a lift (see right labelled ペアリフト310m) or snow escalator (see right labelledスノーエスカレーター) ticket, you can use tubing, snow racers, and snow striders for an additional 500 yen! Use the snow play area for sledding.
Tateshina also has a great onsen and it is just a short walking distance from the ski slopes. A great way to relax your aching muscles after skiing. Check it out here (スパリゾート 鹿山の湯).
The onsen is open from 1200hrs to 2200hrs expect on Monday and Friday in which they open from 1400hrs.
There is a good range of rentals covering all activities. They have skis, snowboards, poles, gloves, ski and snowboard wear, boots, snow boots, snowshoes, sleds, helmets. You can rent individual items or sets. You can rent for half a day, a full day or even 2 days and more. Check out their rentals here.

The main restaurant is “Beans“. They seem to have mostly Japanese food like ramen, Japanese curry, udon and soba, however, they also have pasta and hamburgers. Kids’ meals are also available. There are more places to choose from though.
