Goryu and Hakuba47 Lead Hakuba as Ski Visits Remain Above 1.15 Million

Hakuba’s ski resorts recorded another exceptionally busy winter in 2025–26, with more than 1.15 million ski-area visits across the four resorts included in the latest Hakuba Village statistics.

The clear leader was the interconnected Able Hakuba Goryu and Hakuba47 ski area. Together, Goryu and Hakuba47 attracted 530,888 visits, making them Hakuba Village’s most popular ski destination by a considerable margin.

The figures also reveal continued growth at Hakuba Iwatake and Hakuba Sanosaka, while Happo-One experienced a decline following its particularly strong 2024–25 season.

Hakuba Records More Than 1.15 Million Ski Visits

Hakuba Village’s report covers four ski destinations:

• Able Hakuba Goryu and Hakuba47

• Happo-One

• Hakuba Iwatake

• Hakuba Sanosaka

Their combined visitor numbers were:

Although the latest total was 1.4% below the previous winter, it remained 31.1% higher than in 2022–23.

After two consecutive seasons of rapid growth, Hakuba appears to be maintaining its position at a significantly higher level of demand.

Goryu and Hakuba47 Are Hakuba’s Most Popular Ski Destination

Able Hakuba Goryu and Hakuba47 recorded a combined 530,888 visits in 2025–26, an increase of 4% over the previous winter.

The interconnected resorts accounted for approximately 46% of all ski-area visits reported by Hakuba Village. Their combined total was almost 173,000 visits higher than Happo-One, the second-most-visited resort in the statistics.

The village reports Goryu and Hakuba47 as a single destination because the two ski areas are connected on the mountain. Skiers can move between them using the shared lift network without returning to the valley.

The combined area offers an extensive variety of terrain. Goryu has three main zones—Alps-daira, Toomi and Iimori—while Hakuba47 adds further pistes, terrain parks and connections across the mountain.

Its popularity is therefore not surprising. Visitors can explore both resorts with a shared lift pass while choosing terrain suitable for beginners, families, intermediate skiers and experienced riders.

Strong Visitor Numbers Throughout the Main Winter

Goryu and Hakuba47 performed particularly well during the core winter months:

December visits increased by nearly 20%, while March visits rose by 13%. The ski area exceeded 100,000 visits in each month from December through March.

January remained its busiest month, with 156,903 recorded visits.

Compared with 2022–23, annual visits to Goryu and Hakuba47 have risen from 434,832 to 530,888—an increase of 22.1% in three seasons.

Goryu Can Also Offer Better-Value Accommodation

The Goryu area is not only a convenient base for accessing Hakuba’s most popular interconnected ski area. It can also be one of the better places to search for comparatively affordable accommodation in Hakuba.

Hakuba’s best-known central districts—particularly areas close to Happo-One and Echoland—can command premium prices during Christmas, New Year and the peak January and February period.

Around Goryu, visitors may find a broader selection of reasonably priced pensions, guesthouses, apartments and holiday rentals. Staying within walking distance of the Goryu lifts can also reduce reliance on taxis or daily transfers.

Prices still vary considerably according to the property, booking dates and group size, and affordable rentals become harder to secure during peak periods. Nevertheless, travellers who begin their search around Goryu may find better value than in some of Hakuba’s most expensive neighbourhoods.

For families and groups, renting an entire house or apartment can be particularly economical when the cost is divided among several guests. Happo-One Remains a Major Draw

Happo-One recorded 357,975 visits, making it Hakuba’s second-most-popular ski area.

This was 12.6% below its exceptional 2024–25 result of 409,534 visits. However, the latest total remained:

• 1.7% above 2023–24

• 14.3% above 2022–23

The largest reductions occurred in December, March and the late-spring period. February remained comparatively stable, with 120,403 visits—just 0.7% below the previous year.

Happo-One continues to be one of Hakuba’s most important resorts, particularly for experienced skiers attracted by its vertical terrain, alpine environment and Olympic history.

Iwatake Continues Its Rapid Growth

Hakuba Iwatake recorded 219,593 winter visits, representing annual growth of 5.2%.

Its longer-term performance is even more striking. Iwatake received 117,344 visits in 2022–23, meaning its winter visitation has grown by 87.1% in only three seasons.

February was Iwatake’s busiest month, with 83,127 visits—10.7% more than during the previous winter.

Iwatake accounted for approximately 13% of visits in 2022–23. By 2025–26, its share had risen to 19%, demonstrating how significantly its position within Hakuba has strengthened.

Sanosaka More Than Triples Its Visitor Numbers

Hakuba Sanosaka remains the smallest resort in the report, but it has recorded the fastest percentage growth.

The resort attracted 45,384 visits in 2025–26, up 7.3% from the previous winter and more than three times its 2022–23 total of 14,445.

January visits increased by 26.9%, reaching 16,657, while February produced another 17,074 visits.

Sanosaka accounted for just under 4% of the four-resort total, but its continued growth shows that visitors are increasingly exploring Hakuba’s smaller ski areas.

Hakuba’s Peak Winter Remained Strong

Across all four ski destinations, December, January and February performed better than in the previous season:

Visits during the core December-to-February period increased by approximately 2.8%.

Hakuba’s small overall decline was concentrated in March, April and May. The statistics do not establish the reason, but spring results can be affected by snow conditions, weather, lift operations, available terrain, closing dates and holiday timing.

What the Statistics Tell Us About Hakuba

The latest results show a strong but changing Hakuba ski market.

Goryu and Hakuba47 have emerged as the clear visitor leader, attracting almost half of all ski-area visits reported by Hakuba Village. Iwatake and Sanosaka are also continuing to expand, while Happo-One remains a major destination despite falling back from its unusually strong previous season.

For visitors planning a Hakuba holiday, Goryu offers an especially compelling combination: direct access to Hakuba’s most popular connected ski area, terrain for different ability levels and the possibility of finding better-value accommodation than in some of Hakuba’s premium central districts.

With more than 1.15 million visits across the four ski areas—and more than 30% growth over three seasons—Hakuba’s appeal remains unmistakably strong.

白馬のスキー場利用者数は115万人を突破

五竜は比較的お得な宿泊施設を探しやすいエリア

五竜エリアは、白馬で最も人気のある連結スキーエリアへアクセスするための便利な拠点であるだけではありません。白馬のなかで、比較的手頃な価格の宿泊施設を探しやすいエリアの一つでもあります。

白馬のなかでも特に知名度の高い中心地区、なかでも八方尾根やエコーランド周辺では、クリスマスや年末年始、そして1月から2月の繁忙期に宿泊料金が高くなる傾向があります。

五竜周辺では、比較的リーズナブルなペンション、ゲストハウス、アパートメント、貸別荘などを幅広く見つけられる可能性があります。五竜のリフトから徒歩圏内に滞在すれば、タクシーや毎日の送迎への依存も減らせます。

八方尾根の利用者数は357,975人で、白馬で2番目に人気の高いスキー場となりました。

これは非常に好調だった2024–25シーズンの409,534人を12.6%下回る結果です。しかし、最新シーズンの利用者数は依然として次の水準を維持しています。

• 2023–24シーズンを1.7%上回る

• 2022–23シーズンを14.3%上回る

白馬岩岳で最も利用者が多かったのは2月で、前年を10.7%上回る83,127人を記録しました。

2022–23シーズンには、4スキーエリア全体の約13%を占めていましたが、2025–26シーズンにはその割合が19%まで上昇しました。白馬のなかで岩岳の存在感が大きく高まっていることが分かります。

白馬さのさかは3シーズンで利用者数が3倍以上に

白馬さのさかは、今回の統計に含まれるスキー場のなかでは最も利用者数が少ないものの、増加率では最大の成長を記録しています。

2025–26シーズンの利用者数は45,384人で、前年から7.3%増加しました。2022–23シーズンの14,445人と比べると、3倍以上です。

1月の利用者数は26.9%増えて16,657人となり、2月にも17,074人が訪れました。

白馬さのさかが4スキーエリアの合計に占める割合は4%弱ですが、継続的な成長は、白馬の比較的小規模なスキー場にも足を運ぶ人が増えていることを示しています。

白馬の最盛期は引き続き好調

4つのスキーエリア全体では、12月、1月、2月の利用者数がいずれも前シーズンを上回りました。

冬の中心となる12月から2月までの利用者数は、前シーズンから約2.8%増加しました。

白馬全体で見られたわずかな減少は、主に3月、4月、5月に集中しています。統計だけでは原因を特定できませんが、春季の利用者数は積雪状況、天候、リフトの運行状況、滑走可能なコース、営業終了日、祝日の時期などに影響されます。

統計から見える白馬の現状

最新の結果は、白馬のスキー市場が引き続き力強い一方で、その構成が変化していることを示しています。

五竜とHakuba47は明確な利用者数トップとなり、白馬村が発表したスキー場利用者数のほぼ半数を占めました。白馬岩岳と白馬さのさかも成長を続けています。八方尾根は前シーズンの非常に高い水準から減少したものの、依然として主要なスキー目的地であることに変わりはありません。
