Chateraise Ski Valley Koumi – Overview
It advertises itself as just 2.5 hours from Tokyo. In September 2022, it changed its name from Koumi Re-Ex Ski Valley to Chateraise Ski Valley Koumi. You can check out their website at the provided link. However, as of the last update to this page, they had not mentioned any English or second language. The same operator, operates Charteraise Ski Valley Nobeyama (previously known as Chateraise Ski Resort Yatsugatake).
Attractions
For a small mountain, there is plenty to enjoy here. There is a small terrain park with jumps, waves and 1/4 pipe, a mogul run, a short slalom course with gates, and a kid’s area with some small jumps, waves and obstacles. Check out the picts here. They also have an ski for “new winter sports”, however, it is only accessible during weekdays and from Jan 15th or so (please check with the mountain directly). Also, only E, F and L courses along the No. 2 and No. 5 pair lifts are available for “new winter sports”.
Ski School
While they offer lessons on weekdays and weekends, they only appear to offer them in Japanese.. They offer various types of packages such as group lessons, private lessons, family lessons, and even a lesson entitled “Expert Clinic.”. Lessons are either 2 or 4 hours long. Ski Season
The season here normally runs from mid/early Dec to late March. Check the mountain for exact dates.
Rentals
Rentals of skis, snowboard and all wear is available! In order for “child” prices to apply, the child must be junior high school students or younger (please bring proof of age)
They do not accept reservations or storage of rental items in advance.
All skis are carving skis. They also have fun skis (10 fun skis)
Snowboards are freestyle only.
Boot sizes are 15-31.5cm for skis and 19.5-31.5cm for snowboards
Snowboard sizes are 80-170cm for skis and 90-160cm for snowboards
Wear sizes are junior 100-150cm and adult 3S-4L
Please note the limited quantities of snowshoes ranging from 15 to 27 cm.
Please prepare your own sleds in advance, as the Kids Park offers a limited number of free and paid sleds for rental.
The lift ticket office has limited availability of baby carriers, and there is also a weight limit for infants.
Facilities
The resort center is located right in front of the slope and contains the lift ticket office, rentals, changing rooms, and a free rest area.
The first aid room/ patrol is located in the hexagonal clock tower adjacent to the kids park and resort center.
The parking lot, including night restrooms, are open 24 hours a day and are free of charge. There is parking for 1,000 cars, large buses and wheel chair accessible spots.
The main restaurant Edelweiss is located at the base of the slope and can accommodate 450 people.
“Koumi Reex Hotel” – A European-style resort hotel located in the center of the resort.
“Cottages” – The are separate cottages can accommodate 5 to 8 people per cottage.
“Hoshizora no Yu Riex” – A natural hot spring is adjacent to the hotel.
“Koumi Re-Ex Country Club” – An 18-hole Koumi Re-Ex Country Club is available in the summer.
“Indoor Tennis Courts” – The indoor tennis courts are located above the cottage area. They are open regardless of the weather.
“Chapel” – A small chapel used for weddings is available.
