Overview – A Close Ski Resort to Tokyo by Car

Kamui Missaki Ski Resort, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture is just 112 km away from Tokyo Station making it a close ski resort to Tokyo if you access the mountain by car (it takes about 1.5 hours by car).  There is no direct train access so to get there you must use a train and a bus (it takes about 3 hours by train and bus).  Certainly, not a close ski resort to Tokyo if you are looking for a short transit time.  

The data differs a little bit between Openstreetmap.org and Kamui’s website.  According to Kamui’s website, there are two novice runs, two intermediate runs and one advanced run.  If you click on the run at the top of the mountain, you will see that the slope is only 22%.  That’s not much different from the beginner runs.

There is a small area for kids, Kids Town.  They offer a magic carpet to take you to the top of a small slope.  There is a separate price of Yen 700 (2024) for the Kids Town.  

Season:  Mid Dec to the end of March, Monday to Sunday, 0900hrs to 1630hrs (2024)

Adult 1 Day Pass:  Yen 4,600 (2024).  During weekdays (*1), anyone can purchase a one-day lift ticket at up to 50% off by paying with their mobile app (2024).

*1 – Weekday period: Weekdays from 12/25 to 3/22. However, the year-end and New Year period from 12/30 to 1/3 will be treated as a holiday.

Lessons:  Ski and snowboard lessons are available.

Rentals:  Rentals Available including snowboards, skis, poles, boots, wear, etc.

Accommodation:   While there is no ski in-out accommodation, there is a large selection in the town, about 8 km away from the resort.  There is a good mix of hotels, pensions, and minshuku.
