Tayama Ski Resort in Hachimantai City is located on the border of Iwate, Akita and Aomori prefectures, northern Tohoku. The ski resort is small and is a very local ski resort. They have both groomed and nongroomed terrain. Most of the skiers & snowboarders are local junior teams and lcoal families. Certainly no lift line ups!

One of the characteristics of this ski resort is that there are no gentle slopes, and beginners are forced to either ski the main A course or be forced to walk on foot without using the lift. …so be careful.

It’s not an area with a lot of snowfall so best to check the conditions before going. Check it out here.
